After seven years of marriage, but having managed to spark his passion for winemaking, Barbe Nicole (Haley Bennett) is left a widow with a young daughter and an unprofitable vineyard. Her late husband was more interested in experimenting with the wine's composition than in sales. Her father-in-law wants to sell the vineyard profitably, but Barbe Nicole isn't looking for easy ways out. She decides to take the business into her own hands, taking risks and experimenting. Not without challenges, of course. The widow faces crop failure, rain, heat, cold, and then Russian troops, all against a backdrop of stunning vistas! However, beyond the cannons and Napoleon's pursuit, the Russians prove quite keen on the sparkling drink, which the widow boldly smuggles back to Russia, creating demand, a fashion, and a brand.
