Sexual maniac rapes and kills a woman on the city streets. The young architect Terry Lambert invites the wife of boss Sylvia Wentworth (Isabelle Huppert) to the home. After they have sex Sylvia looks out the window and sees the criminal trying to rape another victim (Elizabeth McGovern). Terry gives testimony in court instead of his girlfriend, but the lawyer convicts him of lying, maniac gets freedom and Terry becomes the main suspect. Terry undertakes his own investigation and trying to find a real killer.
