Tom Farrell - a brave sailor, meets the charming Susan (Sean Young) at a charity ball, after spending the night with her, he finds out that she is the mistress of Defense Secretary David Brice. Ironically, it is with the minister that he will have to work, on the recommendation of his old friend. Farrell did not even imagine that soon he would have to investigate the murder of his own beloved, who was killed by Brice in a fit of anger and presented everything as if the murder of Susan was committed by some KGB agent, while the main suspicion would fall on Tom.
