Rose (Jessica Biel), a single mother, stripper, and drug user, has a child who is in a coma. Her futile search for a better life leads nowhere, she faces only hopelessness and a Botox-filled strip club owner for a boss. Her misery wouldn't be complete, however, without her Indian landlord, who works while dressed as Elvis Presley. When not on duty, the landlord sings karaoke and harbors a fierce hatred for Rose's dog. By a twist of fate, an anorexic young man hits Rose's dog with his car bumper, an event he later won't regret in the slightest.
