Her dear mother drops a cynical remark, expressing the hope that Anita’s sister won’t cause the family such embarrassment. The family?! They have "resigned themselves" to her insatiable lust and make no attempt to treat Anita (clearly, they are sick people themselves!). When the young woman stays out all night, her parents don't worry; instead, they change the locks. Erik, a student who accidentally hit Anita while chasing after a loser, shows such sincere sympathy and concern for her mental state. He proves this time and again by ignoring the objects of her morbid desire and calmly listening to her confessions, at one point, he even suddenly announces that he knows how she can be cured.
