A young deaf novice Antonia (Emmanuelle Laborit) live in the monastery and preparing to become a nun. Meanwhile, every day she goes to the city in a shelter for the poor, to help them to prepare food and clean the rooms. Accidental acquaintance with Mikas, an immigrant from Lithuania, who knows sign language, becomes more important for her than friendship. But soon Antonia finds out that Mikas is a thief. She has to make a difficult choice: to stay in a monastery or go into a world of human passions.
