Alex (Kate Winslet) and Ben are stranded at the airport due to weather conditions. She's rushing to the East Coast, anticipating her own marriage, and he's trying to get to Jacksonville, where he's scheduled to operate on his sick child. After realizing that all flights have been canceled due to an approaching storm, Alex finds a private jet pilot willing to fly her around the danger zone and take her to Denver, where she can safely get home. When the pilot says there's room on the plane, Alex invites Ben to join her and fly to Denver together. During the flight, the pilot suffers a heart attack and the plane crashes. The passengers survive, but Alex has a broken leg and they're stranded in an uninhabited mountainous area. They must use all their strength to survive these inhumane conditions.
