Doc McCoy is a bank robber serving time in prison. His wife (Ali MacGraw) negotiates with an official for her husband's release. However, the price for early release is that Doc must commit another robbery at a specific bank. Doc's cunning robbery plan is working well until everything goes awry. Now Doc and his wife are on the run with a ton of cash and a tail of pursuers. Doc proves to be a very attentive and determined man, but now he has to make his way to Mexico, dealing with a multitude of problems, gangsters, police, and all sorts of other obstacles.
