Niccolo is a middle-aged director. He's searching for a woman for a new film. He doesn't know who she is, what she should look like, or what type she should be, but he knows for sure that it will be a woman. Along the way, he has relationships with various women, including the impetuous and self-sufficient Mavi (Daniela Silverio) and the pensive and romantic Ida (Christine Boisson). Niccolo doesn't seem to care what he's filming, but the nature of the woman he's looking for worries him immensely. It's impossible to say why he needs her - whether she's truly for the film, or whether she's a romantic quest for the impossible in an era of total alienation of the ideal.
