It is a common problem when women are afraid to speak out, lest they be trampled into the dirt later. This is especially difficult for those who were initially raised to hate themselves, like Laura. Savannah (Kristen Stewart) serves as a conduit, helping the writer to connect with the outside world. However, Savannah continues to be a self-sufficient heroine of this story. The image of LeRoy consumes her, opening the doors to a new, previously unknown life. Sometimes, in order to find yourself, you need to put on a mask, and this is exactly what happens to Savannah.
