Amaryllis (Roselyn Sanchez), a classically trained Puerto Rican dancer, moves to New York City after her father's death to pursue her dream of becoming a famous dancer. She settles into a dilapidated apartment. To survive, she is forced to take a job as a stripper at a seedy nightclub. There, she adopts the stage name Yellow. At the club, she meets a lonely doctor. He feels compassion and a desire to protect her, and they begin a relationship. The doctor suggests moving to Australia. Amaryllis faces a difficult choice, continue her path to fame as a dancer and audition for a Broadway production, or take a risk and build a life with her new love.
