A spirit, known locally as the Dust Devil, emerges from the desert in search of victims. He prays for the lonely and unloved, for those who have lost everything but life. He dismembers and rapes corpses (the sequence of events is unclear), mixes the victims blood with minerals, and leaves mysterious drawings at the crime scenes. As the investigation reveals, witchcraft and black magic are involved. The Dust Devil's world is a godforsaken landscape inhabited by world-weary sinners, aggressive white cops, and equally vicious natives.
