Larry, having lost his girlfriend (Robyn Douglass), who had scurrilously dumped him, struggles to find a place to live and cope with everyday life, diluting this lonely vacuity with futile attempts to meet other girls. Driven to utter despair by the terrible reality of his solitary existence, he begins planting flowers, communing with ferns, displaying cardboard cutouts of non-existent guests in his apartment, and even howling like a dog in a duet with a dog he temporarily tamed. Only his fellow sufferer, Warren, a fellow lonely man, saves him from suicide, which is essentially just a step away. Larry resorts to all kinds of tricks and subterfuge for the sole purpose of ending his miserable, lonely existence, but one fine day fate presents our sufferer with a gift in the form of the charming and attractive Iris. Little did Larry know what difficulties and events would follow this encounter.
