A group of people in bright clown costumes, shouting wildly and performing acrobatic stunts, are robbing a bank. For both the criminals and their victims, this spectacle, dubbed "From Hungary to Paris", gradually turns into a tragic farce once they reach the French capital. A series of murders and brutal beatings ensues, all driven by the sole aim of winning back Mary (Sophie Marceau), Micky’s girlfriend. Bags of stolen cash are tossed at her feet, but it is Leon, a chance traveling companion of the robbers, who throws them.
