Why is Jason considered a homicidal maniac and a categorically evil character? What does he essentially do? He slaughters unprincipled and boring youth who are interested in nothing but sex and drugs. He's a hero, not a villain. Jason, abandoned by his father, hated by his peers, deprived of normal social interactions because of his deformity, a prisoner of his loneliness (since the only person who loved him, Mrs. Voorhees, was murdered), evokes sympathy. A group of young people arrives in the vicinity of a notorious camp for a fun weekend. As the teenagers warm themselves by the evening campfire, one of the guys tells a story about a crazy mother and her son, but no one believes him. Soon, the guys will see for themselves that this is the absolute truth, as Jason is already nearby, ready to put to death anyone who dares set foot on his beloved land.
