In a mountainous republic where war had recently ended, memories of the terrible days they had endured, of violence and bloodshed, were still fresh in the minds of the residents of a remote village near the border, and despite the return of peace, hatred for the enemy still lingers in their souls. On the outskirts of the village, against the backdrop of majestic mountains, their peaks lost in the misty haze, lives an elderly woman, Mrs. Kalsan, with her granddaughter, Elena (Barbora Bobulova). One day, in the rain, Mrs. Kalsan saw a boy hiding under a tree near her house. From his dark, curly hair and tanned skin, she realized he was not a local. Taking pity on the drenched boy, Kalsan brought him home and fed him. At first, he remained silent, casting her distrustful glances, but then he said his name was Mirka, that he was ten years old, and that he was looking for his mother.
