Giovanna (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), despite having a comfortable life, isn't happy. She has two children, a husband who can't support the family, and her job as an accountant, which she hates. In the evenings, she stands by the window, watching her neighbor, smoking a cigarette. And she dreams of a different life. One day, Giovanna and her husband meet an elderly man on the street, dressed in a nice suit and carrying a considerable sum of money. He had lost his memory, didn't know his name or how to get home. Giovanna and Filippo decide to take care of him and find out who he is. Uncovering the man's secret, as Davide discovered, becomes an opportunity for Giovanna to look deep within herself and admit that somewhere along the way, in the gray labyrinth of life, she lost her dreams and contact with her heart and feelings. Just as Davide must find his memories of the past, which transport him back to 1943, when he lost a loved one through his own fault and survived the hell of a concentration camp, so Giovanna must find herself and decide what her future life should be.
