Two friends live the ordinary lives of single women in their thirties. Nicole is sensitive and kind, tenderly caring for the elderly, while Katrin (Inka Friedrich) is perpetually struggling with her job. She's what's called a divorcee with a child. Katrin has a teenage son who's in love with a girl who doesn't reciprocate his feelings. He naively thinks that if his mother buys him expensive sneakers, his love life will improve. In the evenings, the women gather on the balcony and share their deepest secrets over a glass of wine. They yearn for love.
