Simon, a student, seems carved from the stone of doubt, fueled by his belonging to the well-off strata of Parisian society. Having no material difficulties, Simon is in the midst of a spiritual quest, focusing on the problematic aspects of women's intimacy with men and with each other. Ariane, who lives in his house, is called upon to help him in this, but her image remains blurred and is viewed solely through Simon's subjective perspective, exploring the physical and spiritual facets of her personality. But instead of what he desires, he encounters an additional, more serious problem - Simon wants to know literally everything about Ariane and feels unable to achieve his goal. Ultimately, he realizes that all of this is part of his own equation, which can hardly be resolved.
