Brooke Adams "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (1978)
Matthew, an unassailable health inspector, finds himself caught in a whirlwind of strange events, swept up in them and quietly carried away by the hustle and bustle of the city. A colleague from the health department, the perky, sweet, and funny Elizabeth (Brooke Adams), for whom Matthew treats with barely concealed admiration, complains to him that her husband is not really her husband. That is, he is he, and yet he is not he. On the first evening, such statements smack of overwork, a wild fantasy fueled by stress, a certain bewilderment tucked away in a reserve of confidence that everything will work out as usual, that the problem is within you, not around you, and that it will be solved at your first whim. And carefree laughter will serve as our guarantee. But, as we know, this laughter is a harbinger of disaster.
"There's nothing to be afraid of" - Brooke Adams said to her friend as she stood naked in the bushes.
