A family lives in a house consisting of a disabled father, a secretive girl, and a dissolute mother (Lisa Gastoni). She cheats on her husband, drinks heavily, and wishes him dead. Meanwhile, a girl named Simona is left to her own devices. During one of her walks in the park, she discovers a wounded man near a pond and tries to help him. The man turns out to be a murderer wanted by the police, but this doesn't faze the girl in the least. She continues to hide him and help him. Federico treats her quite kindly, even with interest.
