Laura, a young woman, is mortally afraid of the Boogeyman, a mystical demon-ghost who comes at night to kill her. This fear stems from childhood, as children, Laura and her brother, Henry, saw someone kill tjeir parents and believed it was the work of a sinister monster. To overcome this terrible phobia, Laura checks herself into a psychiatric hospital, where Henry has already undergone treatment, successfully, as his sister believed. At the hospital, Laura meets other sufferers like herself, each with their own phobia. For some reason, the patients laugh at Laura's fears, but soon, one by one, they die, from the very thing they feared most.
