Joghis Seudin Arias "La sirga" (2012)

Nineteen-year-old Alicia (Joghis Seudin Arias) flees the war that has devastated her village and claimed the lives of her loved ones. She finds refuge in the dilapidated guesthouse La Sirga, located on the shore of a lake in the remote Andean highlands. The establishment is run by her uncle, Oscar, who is reluctant to accept his niece but nevertheless shelters her and entrusts her with helping with renovations, ostensibly to prepare for tourists who are unlikely to ever arrive. The place resembles purgatory, the guesthouse is barely functioning, communication with the outside world is minimal, and daily life consists of monotonous chores and contemplation of the harsh nature. Alicia finds herself the focus of unhealthy attention from local men. She is followed at night by Oscar himself and his son, Freddy, who has returned home with mysterious injuries and unclear intentions.
