Humanity has won a terrible war against the aliens, but the Earth is no longer habitable. The aliens have blown up the moon, and a series of natural disasters have destroyed what they didn't destroy. Humans have found a new home on Saturn's moon, and Jack is about to go there, along with his partner and roommate Victoria (Andrea Riseborough), but for now he does his job on Earth, servicing stations that extract the dying planet's last natural resources and, when necessary, repairing robotic defense systems. Some of the enemies remain on the planet, waging a weak guerrilla war, disabling equipment.
