The janitor knocks on the door but no one answers. He decides to go in. He finds a small mess in the apartment, picks up a statue from the floor, but does not notice traces of blood on it. After that, he discovers a dead woman (Linda Towne). Horrified, he throws the statue on the floor, runs to the owner of the house and tells him everything. The owner calls the police and anonymously accuses a street preacher fighting for self-government and participating in elections. Mr. Tibbs is assigned to investigate. Will he find the real killer?
