Liraz Charhi "A Late Quartet" (2012)

The string quartet has been playing together for 25 years. During this long period, its musicians have experienced the euphoria of initial success, the bitterness of failure, their destinies have become intimately intertwined, and they seem to have become one. As usual, before the opening of a new season, they gather for a rehearsal, when suddenly their cellist announces that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and, at best, will be able to play only one farewell concert with them, after which they will have to continue without him. Despite a shared desire to keep the quartet together, a sense of impending change forces the other members to recall their grievances and ambitions and to consider whether they truly want to continue down the same path.
