A couple experiencing some difficulties in their family life spends their vacation traveling in a caravan. An Italian journalist, a rare boor and drunkard, and his wife pick up a hitchhiker posing as a student, a psychopathic gangster who recently committed a major robbery and is on the run from the police and his accomplices. The gangster quickly reveals his true colors, the situation escalates, and the couple finds themselves held hostage.
