Paris, New Year's Eve, 1900. A man in a black cloak and hat gruesomely murders a man and a woman. He first cuts off the man's hand and then rips out his heart with his incredibly strong, iron fist. A young girl, Sonia, witnesses the murder from a hiding place and later tells the investigator everything. The crime shocked France, but the killer was never found. Twelve years later, in Rome, Sonia (Romina Mondello), raised by her aunt and now a fashion designer, comes looking for work to Boris Volkoff, the owner of a wax museum whose exhibits are so perfect they are virtually indistinguishable from real people. Upon seeing Sonia, he immediately hires her and later gives her a family medallion, feeling a strange affection and attachment for her. The girl is constantly plagued by nightmares, returning to that terrible night, especially after she sees Volkoff recreate in detail the brutal murder scene she witnessed. And after discovering a strange laboratory in the basement, Sonia begins to suspect that the people disappearing in the city and the new characters appearing at the museum are connected.
