Kerry Fox, Sophie Ward "A Village Affair" (1994)

In a remote English village, the quiet pace of life, the lack of entertainment, and only the conversations of helpful neighbors over cups of tea brighten the otherwise dreary everyday life. Alice (Sophie Ward) arrives in just such a village with her husband and three children. Over time, they meet a neighbor named Clodagh (Kerry Fox). Alice suspects her husband is attracted to a new family friend, and she flirts with him. Clodagh spends almost all of her time at Alice's house, but Alice's depression prevents her from drawing her husband out. Clodagh also falls in love with Alice's children. While this might suggest certain thoughts about Clodagh, what truly drives her will come as a shock, as it's unlikely. Soon, Alice begins painting, which is what she did before her depression, and her paintings are transformed. But there are still enormous challenges and difficult decisions to be made.
