Traci Lind "Survival Quest" (1989)

A group of young and not-so-young people, along with an instructor, head into the wilderness for four weeks. The goal of the program is to teach them survival skills in extreme conditions, teamwork, and, if necessary, trusting a stranger with their lives. Everything would be fine, but a prisoner sneaks into the group, which consists of wealthy young men and women, as well as an elderly man who has decided to fulfill his dream in his old age. The police insist the young man is harmless, and let the instructor believe them, but try explaining that to people who have lived their lives with everything covered. Naturally, conflict arises among the group, which threatens to escalate into something more, but that's not all the news. To add insult to injury, a group of armed young men is roaming nearby, conducting training exercises in the woods and believing that the hikers are their prey. These wilderness enthusiasts will have a story to tell their descendants, if they survive, of course.
