Helen (Carroll Baker), a race car driver no longer as young as she once was, receives an invitation to visit the home of her ex-husband, a handsome womanizer. It turns out the letter was sent by his new, wealthy wife, who offered to commit murder, naturally for financial reward and as a memento of their failed marriage. The languid life in the villa of a modern aristocrat leads Helen to strange panic attacks, beginning with a car accident at a race and becoming increasingly frequent.
