The loyal squire Valiant, hiding his face behind a visor, replaces his master at a knight's tournament and puts up a worthy fight the tournament's strongest knight. During the duel, a band of barbarians, led by Thagnar, infiltrates the castle, determined to steal King Arthur's symbol of power, the legendary sword Excalibur. The theft succeeds, but Arthur dispatches his best men in pursuit of the kidnappers, including Valiant, who is prepared to face any danger for the love of Princess Ilene (Katherine Heigl).
